MESSENGER: Emperor! A message!

LETTER: Emperor Di Xin,
Due to your laziness and faliure to protect us, I and my people will no longer pay you tribute. Sincerely, King Wen

DI XIN: Hmm. . . I know what to do!

NARRATOR: The next day. . .
KING WEN: Wait! What happened?
DI XIN: You don't pay tribute, you go to jail!
KING WEN: I refuse to accept this!
DI XIN: Well, then. . . I'll be back. . .

KING WEN'S SON: Thanks for the hot tub! But, why do you have a cookbook?

The weather predictions for the next three days are posted below, as predicted by our noble sky watchers.
Tomorrow it seems that the great King of Serpents in the Sky will go back in the water, and so it will be raining and there will be some minor flooding. That is good for crops, though, as it has not rained in two weeks. It will be cloudy and the sky watchers recommend staying indoors.
Tuesday, the earth will be well watered and the rain will have ceased. It will be a god day to tend to the land, because it will be very warm with only a few clouds.
Wednesday, the warm weather will continue throughout the morning and early afternoon, and in the evening a light rain will fall. Finish harvesting the crops, because the next day will most likely be a good day to sell. A new war has started in the north, and grain and rice prices will be high.

LADY HAO DEAD

Lady Hao, a wealthy political leader who is married to Wu Ding, just died at her home two days ago.

Friday, one of Hao's maids came in her room to deliver her mistress the morning's tea. When she opened the door, the Lady was lying in bed, spread-eagled and motionless, eyes rolled to the back of her head.

Armed with a battle ax, Lady Hao has led our army into battle with confidence. She has married Wu Ding, a Shang ruler, and given birth to Price Jie.

The investigation team is doing its job and searching for the cause of Lady Hao's death. She had fine talents for a woman, was brave, courageous, and had a spark of passion wherever she went. Hao has defeated many of our enemies, and now she has finally been defeated herself. She will be remembered in our history for years to come.

DI XIN’S ACTIONS LAWFUL

King Wen, ruler of the rising Zhou dynasty, recently has been arrested by Di Xin, emperor of the Shang dynasty, for refusing to pay tribute. Di Xin also took Wen’s son and boiled him in a stew, which was promptly served to the prince’s father. The King had no idea whatsoever what had happened, and did not know it was his son he was eating. Di Xin’s action was clearly the right thing to do.
Di Xin is our beloved emperor, and he knows what he is doing. The planets aligned a month ago, and Di Xin is doing all he can to ensure that he will keep his power. Heaven did not choose him to become emperor for nothing. After all, what would be better? A few people from a foreign place dying or having hundreds of our own kind perish, should the dynasty fall?
The emperor’s choice is clear- and he made the right one. We can risk a few outsiders’ lives if it means saving a dynasty.
For once, our emperor had ceased being drunk and has put his head in the game. King Wen is still in prison, and for refusing to pay his monthly tribute. This was probably the beginning of a rebellion, and no doubt it would have grown if the emperor did not do something about it. That would have meant wars and revolts, and, most importantly, the loss of many innocents.

EMPRESS DISCOVERS SILK

Empress Xiling Shi, wife of the Yellow Emperor, has just discovered a new material a few days ago that comes from a mulberry bush.

On Sunday, a worried Emperor called Xiling Shi over and asked her to find out what was wrong with his mulberry bush. She went out into the courtyard and discovered white cocoons covering the plant. She plucked one off and accidentally dropped it in warm water. To her surprise, the cocoon unraveled into a long, fine strand. When the Empress spun many of these strands together, they created a soft, glossy fabric called "silk", since it comes from the silkworm. Also, she says, "It can be dyed to create magnificent colors."

The Emperor says that he is very proud of his wife for discovering a new material that can last longer than cotton while still retaining its beauty and shine.

Silk is being produced at this time and should be available to the public within a few weeks. First it will be sold to the nobles, and followed by the middle class.

The Empress expects silk to skyrocket in popularity, and soar way past common materials, like cotton. Although, it will probably only be bought at first from the wealthy folk, since it is so new.
